Gastropod species comprise a large portion of Australia’s marine biodiversity and play an important role in ecosystem-level biodiversity and ecology. This project involves the systematics and taxonomy of caenogastropods. Despite the global distribution and abundance of this group, there is little understanding of the evolutionary history and relationships between the major clades. A comprehensive understanding of the systematics and taxonomy of the species present in Australia’s marine ecosystems aids greatly with conservation efforts. A family-level phylogeny of the ‘Neotaenioglossa’ will determined to contribute to the international efforts to resolve gastropod systematics.
